Camels And Needles

The R’s and T’s are so mad because of the Supreme Court. The D’s will still be mad because there is still the problem of Senate holds by one senator and there is still a super majority needed to block a filibuster and the idea that many are one issue voters.

Also there is the not so small problem of the “blue dogs.” Unfortunately the “blue dogs” are the only people on either side who give a rat’s patootie what their opposition constituents say. There is no such thing on the R side. They couldn’t care less what anyone registered D has to say in their districts and they are not likely to suddenly become bipartisan since a lot of them believe they will be doomed to hell for eternity for compromising on anything.

I know because I have attempted to communicate with all of their offices.

Keep it in the front of your mind that there are exactly the same number of Bible interpreters as there are Bible believers. As long as they are intent on tearing down the wall separating religion and government there will still be problems.

Both of my legislators, my governor and all three of my congressman believe they have the right to force their religious beliefs on those who disagree and they believe the Bible gives them that right. For some reason they seem to think that witnessing involves browbeating the non-believer into codified submission.

Hear that, Wesselhoft, Fallin, Inhofe, Coburn, Cole and especially Russell. I am not positive they all believe that rape is just another form of contraception, but I did not hear of any of them, including Dr. Coburn, disagreeing on that point or that forcing victims of incest to give birth to their own blood relatives.

They introduced a law in Oklahoma that only incest victims who were minors be given a choice.

They all believe in small government, and they will be right there peeking over your OB-GYN’s shoulder during your next appointment or watching who has sex with whom.

They couldn’t be more proud of their own self-righteousness. Not one of them has explained how they justify their embrace of the rich young ruler story as their party platform.

Camels and needles, camels and needles.

I know I should be a gracious winner with regards to the presidential race, but when the other side’s main concern for four years was to clog up the works – even on issues they were in favor of – any graciousness I might still possess is for people who care about healthcare more than the care about making money.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
