Fiction That Would Frighten Stephen King

An open letter to U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R-OK:

I haven’t read your entire response to the president’s speech, just the teaser, which I saw while sending my response to your continuing obstinacy.

[Tom’s website says: “The American people do not want another speech … “]

I am sure you don’t want the president explaining his plan because you prefer putting your own terrifying interpretative spin on it. You prefer sending people in to deprive anyone who disagrees from speaking.

I guess you think the people should continue swallowing the crap you and the GOP have been putting out there, like calling anyone who wants everyone to have health care a “Socialist,” a “Communist,” “Marxist” or a “NAZI.”

YOU want everyone to know that you think having the government or anyone else pay my doctor to give me advice on how to save money for my family at the end of my life or how to control my end of life views, every five years, if I want the doctor to do that, “A DEATH PANEL”?

I thought calling the tax on unearned income for survivors of those with estates valued in the millions a “death tax” was bad, this is much worse.

I have no idea who was at your Town Halls because I was in the hospital getting really good care because I have health care that my hubby may have to go on strike to preserve.

I am sure there weren’t any people having the need to yell anyone down or deprive them of their free speech because Oklahoma’s Fourth Congressional District just swallows anything you say.

The president has every right to speak when he wants and anyone who doesn’t want to listen can just turn it off. How can you not think he has the right to correct the crap the GOP has been putting out? He has let you guys just go crazy with stories that would terrify Stephen King.

The military and those with Medicare have government-run health care and they obviously don’t mind. If we all have to either volunteer to get shot at in wars created for profit or we have to wait until we are too old to enjoy good health, then why have it?

I heard you want limits on malpractice suits. You can’t even prove there is a problem with that, especially in Oklahoma. Limit the HMO’s profits, first. I prefer bureaucrats I can vote out of office, like congressmen, making life and death decisions as opposed to fat-cat health care lobbyists and CEOs who don’t know me and I can’t vote out of office.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
