Flaming Ridiculous

on

BY KAREN WEBB

No one is making the Flaming Lips the official state rock group. They are voting in a song by a state rock group.

It is the song, not group.

It took them what – 50 years? – to put a picture of Woody Guthrie at the Capitol because of his politics.

It is the song, not the group, you crazy prudes. Good night, I’ll bet Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-OKC, and the rest had no problem voting for Bush/Cheney in 2004 even after on June 22, 2004 Vice President Cheney told Sen. Patrick Leahy to F— himself on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Later, Cheney’s people said it wasn’t his usual mode of speech. Cheney eventually said he did say it, but Leahy deserved it.

You make a stand for free speech and free expression every chance you get, even in this instance.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
