Observercast

Inauguration Day 2023

on

The 59th Oklahoma Legislature kicks off Feb. 6 with Republican supermajorities in both houses threatening to widen the state’s already massive gulf between the Haves and the Have-Nots. Tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the rich. Vouchers that further starve underfunded public schools. Book bans. More restrictions on what can and can’t be taught about history and race. And more threats to the rights of LGBTQ Oklahomans of all ages.

For our first Observercast episode of Season 4 – Inauguration Day 2023 – new House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson joins us to discuss what lies ahead this session, what Republican policies mean for workaday Oklahomans – and what a brighter future for all could look like.

Editor’s Note: We originally intended to launch Observercast’s fourth season on Jan. 23. But statehouse leaders’ announced priorities and a flurry of Draconian bills demanded we start early. As always, episodes will continue to drop on Monday nights.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
