Say It Ain’t So, Mr. President

on

BY KAREN WEBB

Dear Mr. President:

NO, this is too much. Now your Justice Department is not only defending the Bush Administration against torture charges, you are now justifying warrantless wiretaps. We can only hope the GOP sees the error of their ways with regards to the unitary executive since their executive is no longer in power and get rid of it, since you have no inclinations to get rid of it yourself.

They say you are waiting for the Congress to fix this and Congress is waiting for at least one Republican to OK a flashlight on the most criminal administration in history.

So, it looks like you are not going to follow through on a single campaign issue regarding secrecy. You are less transparent than they were because they weren’t claiming to be open.

Since when is it alright to say, we aren’t going to punish them because you aren’t going to continue torturing? What in the hell does this teach kids? Honey, we are sorry your dad beat the crap out of you, but your step-dad says he won’t beat you so therefore we will not be punishing your dad.

The Republicans are not going to go along with any of this. You are leaving in place every over-reach the Republicans put in so when they get back in charge there will be no difference.

No, we can’t go along with this. It is exactly what you campaigned against. I thought we had made a step forward and now you are forcing us back. This can not be happening.

I never thought I would have to depend on Spain to do what this administration promised to do. Nothing, I mean nothing regarding civil rights has changed.
