The ‘Me Generation’ Candidate

on

BY KAREN WEBB

I have been listening to quotes and commentary and I am convinced someone needs to start calling Rick Perry “THE ME GENERATION CANDIDATE.”

You know, the “what did you do for me old man bunch.” You know, the “Screw You Mom and Dad,” I am in this for me candidate. The candidate based on the old Saturday Night Live candidate – “what is this going to do for me?”

We used to sit around in our 20s talking about our elders screwing us in our old age by continuing to breathe. To hell with my Granny and Pa Pa, which means I don’t give a rat’s patootie about your Nana and Pap Paw. Like HELL we did.

I remember feeling relieved that I wasn’t having to worry so much about taking care of my parents in their senior years because of Medicare and Social Security.

Just this week, my husband [who has saved] was worrying about his mother [who we just had to put in a nursing facility] being screwed by the GOP if she lives more than three years – which is when her money runs out. He is her only surviving child. My mother has no nest egg at all, but she does have six children.

Stop calling them entitlements, like they are something my parents, grandparents and I didn’t work for.

Rick Perry is appealing to the most selfish wing of the population. They should not have to pay in because they may not get it all back. He also claims to be a Christian and is supposed to be talking to Christians who apparently have found a verse that backs up the notion that you only give expecting a monetary return.

Call this idiot what he is, “A SPOILED BRAT AND A BULLY” – which makes sense for the Bully Party that holds us hostage until they get 100% of what the ask for.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
