The Sheeple’s Protest

on

BY KENNY BELFORD

There’s a bit of silver lining in the wingnut protests witnessed this week. For starters, after careful deliberation, they selected a name for their event that’s slang for a sexual act involving a scrotum. I’m still chuckling over that one.

Then, as we watched the sheeple arrive at their protest sites, their handmade signs were quite revealing. Many of them centered on a high tax theme. That’s really revealing and also amusing.

The Republican plan they seemed to support actually would virtually double the tax break for individuals earning $1 million or more per year, and judging by the look of the crowd, they weren’t members of that group. But maybe they just wanted to show their sympathy for the poor, wealthy folks.

They seemed clueless that President Obama’s tax plan would give a tax break to 95% of Americans.

Others had signs complaining about government spending. This is a new found position for the sheeple.

For eight years they excused away, rationalized and justified the worst president in America’s history. George W. Bush inherited a budget surplus then turned it into record debt in the blink of an eye.

They showed they’re still in a state of denial over the GOP economic policies, including deregulation, which created a horrific mess that has to be fixed. Instead, they were told what to think and be upset about, and like loyal lemmings the sheeple joined in lockstep.

They also seemed somewhat – probably totally – oblivious to the fact that their event was created by Republican lobbyist groups, headed by very rich individuals. That’s another good sign.

As long as the 19% deadenders choose to remain loyal, clueless sheeple, the Republican Party is going to remain a fringe group.

Why, in Texas, they’re now actually starting a discussion about seceding from the United States. That probably plays well in the trailer parks, but is quite comical to the rest of us.

All in all, the events only served as yet another example of why Republicans have been clobbered in the last two national elections. They showed no lessons have been learned to reverse the trend, and that’s good for America.
