“The biggest issue facing our education system today is left wing indoctrination in our schools.” – Ryan Walters, Aug. 9, 2022

No, the biggest issue facing our education system is the remote possibility that Walters might win his race to be the next Superintendent of Public Instruction in Oklahoma. The only publicly-released poll conducted for this contest showed his opponent, 2020 Teacher of the Year Jena Nelson, with a five point lead. This, after Walters had spent over $400,000 winning his runoff against Shawnee Superintendent April Grace while Jena had at that time only raised $75,000.

Second only to Walters’ obsession with non-existent “liberal indoctrination” in our classrooms is his promise to shutter most of this state’s rural schools by his promise to implement “choice” throughout Oklahoma. And how would he do that? Out there, in the country where I live, many schools and counties have fairly small enrollments in the existing systems and choice would drag millions of dollars away from them to experiment with choice which has, at best in Oklahoma, only spotty success.

Think Epic Charters for example, a boondoggle that worked only for its two founders, both of whom are now facing many felony indictments.

While Ryan wants choice in schools, he wants Critical Race Theory [CRT] out of schools. No problem here. It’s never been taught in any Oklahoma public school, Pre-K through the 12th grade, but former history teacher Walters knows how gullible his Republican base has proven to be.

For example, a very recent Amber Integrated poll found that fully 63% of Oklahoma Republicans still believe that Joe Biden did not win the election in 2020. No other state is populated with such a high number of democracy deniers, which is what they are, and reveals also why Oklahoma is endlessly the butt of jokes, degradation, and disdain.

And then there are the books. Who knew Walters must be the secret grandson of U.S. Sen. Joe McCarthy, once famous but remembered only for his red scare baiting of the 1950s. With his lies and deceptions Joe ruined many lives and caused others to commit suicide.

Fortunately, after Nov. 8, we will hear little to nothing from either Ryan or his mentor, another fluke of Oklahoma political history, Gov. Kevin Stitt, because both will be looking for employment.

Perhaps door-to-door selling magazine subscriptions! Now wouldn’t that be appropriate for these two science deniers, public education haters, fraudsters and phonies in so many ways.

As a matter of fact, perhaps I should write a book about them. I’ve already figured out the title:

Clueless Kevin and Ruthless Ryan: The Okie Righteous Brothers Who Can’t Sing And Aren’t Funny. Make Sure You Miss Them!
