Does anyone have an idea why the president and his minions are so bent on destroying the healthcare system? Sure, our for-profit system has its flaws, but until the administration’s cuts, the United States was the driver of medical innovation and scientific advancement, breakthroughs that brought us not only solutions but prestige and wealth.
In his first term, the president was so proud of the speed with which we were able to produce an mRNA Covid vaccine. What caused his sudden turn? Was it Dr. Fauci’s popularity? Maybe it was health professionals correcting his misinformation on air.
Before the administration appointed a vaccine denier to head the CDC, and before funding was slashed for research, our problems were accessibility and affordability. Those who can afford good insurance have been in good hands here. Unfortunately, too many, including people with full time jobs whose workplaces don’t provide health insurance, don’t get the care that is available to those who can pay. Then came the Medicaid cuts and monkeying with the ACA.
A study in the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome has been stalled. Programs to stop smoking have been cut. Some people’s insurance won’t cover necessary vaccines. What breakthrough cures will be lost because of funding cuts?
Will polio and measles make a comeback?
What do we do now?
