An Invitation To Republicans

on

Democratic Invitation No. 1: Someone has to begin to outreach to our Republican friends and neighbors. So here goes …

OK, sometimes our party looks like the Star Wars bar scene. Diversity can be intense and it can be chaotic … but the folks in our party do not generally feel pressure to hate those that are different.

If the Republican Party had a sincere and solid plan for improving public education, for expanding health care, for improving public safety … I would join up.

If the Republican Party did not disavow all government revenue above all other priorities I would be there. When you guys were for fiscal conservatism, business, jobs and a vibrant economy … that was a good thing.

Somehow the T-Party pushed you into dropping economic issues and wrapped your party in an exclusive social issues ideology.

You previously properly checked the Democrats on going overboard on their PC programs and helped find the right balance between compassion and bankruptcy. But as all but the most ardent ideologues can see … the party of Trump is a divisive, hate filled development that has emboldened those in our society who do not respect the values our nation is based and depends on.

This is not going away on Nov. 9. The voters that nominated a bloviating narcissist for president of the United States are going to blame the impending loss on the media, the Clinton Foundation, the Benghazi cover-up team and some of the missing e-mails. Trump TV is going to make Fox News look like CNN.

We are in for a long battle … not between right and left, but between right and wrong. Please join us and help us again balance the debate in Oklahoma so we can – no kidding – catch up with Mississippi on school funding … or finally provide health care to 200,000 Oklahomans denied life-saving services only because our leaders hate our current president.

Help us find ways to lock those up that we are afraid of, not the ones we are mad at. The bar is a little crazy … but it is more fun and I dare say more noble.

Join the altar call … short walk down that aisle … the water is fine. Think about it.
