Earning The Prize

on

If you are still trying to win that Nobel Peace Prize, Mr. President, I think you might be going about it the wrong way. How can threatening to take Greenland and Canada, with military force, if necessary, be construed as peaceful?

And Gaza! There is no peace when you take the land of a group displaced by war and send them where they don’t want to go. It isn’t peace when you tell Netanyahu, “Do what you want to do.” This is especially true when his goal appears to be genocide.

On Meet the Press last week, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, speaking of the conflict in Ukraine, said, “We’re closer to peace than we ever have been.”

It’s not a peace deal when our politicians give in to the aggressor. It’s definitely not a peace deal when Zelensky is left out of the negotiations. All Putin wants is a break to regroup, and if he has pieces of Ukraine to work from, his next attack on Ukraine will be closer to Kyiv.

Who was it again who took us out of the deal to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons? Just how close are they to being a nuclear power? Do our hits on the Houthi rebels, Iranian proxies, bring us closer to peace or closer to a confrontation with a nuclear state?

If you want to promote peace and unity around the world, getting rid of USAID is a really bad idea. We have made friends around the world with USAID. Does cutting aid that saves lives, gives us soft power, and keeps countries safer help anyone? Does it advance peace? Right now, Putin seems to be the winner here.

Who are you really working for, other than for your own power? It’s not for the American people, it’s not for allies who no longer trust us, and it certainly isn’t for peace.

Peace isn’t about a gold medallion and your name in the history books. In fact, peace is the real prize, and you don’t seem interested in that.
