Next week, a federal court begins weighing whether the state’s lethal injection protocol constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. The bloodlust gives Oklahoma an international black eye in a civilized world that regards state-sanctioned executions as cruel, unusual, unacceptable and, well, uncivilized.
