L’Enfant Most Terrible

A sad, disgusting Donald was on full display in sad, downtrodden Youngstown, OH Saturday night. A crowd of mostly white, middle and older agers joined in the destruction of themselves, responding to every Trump Tirade with chants, sign waving, boos and hoorays as Donald the Divider did his best to do just that.

He was especially indignant about mostly black and brown immigrants, those from south of the border. Yes, that border, not the one to the north.

Donald darkly declared, “Your lives are in danger. Murderers, rapists, druggies and the most disgusting, despicable delinquents are just down the street, lurking in the shadows, plotting your personal planting.”

Trump trumpeted that fear-laden clarion call for action when it fact the “they” referred to are mostly just mowing your yard, roofing your house, constructing and repairing your highways, byways and bridges.

“They” are also doing the dishes at the local Denny’s, diapering your little ones, stocking shelves at stores galore and the only knives “they” use are to slice, dice and deliver to your dinner tables meats, munchies and mountains of America’s amazing ambiance.

No job is too menial, too hard, too degrading for your new neighbors from afar where many of “them” have endured much worse including murder, mayhem and madness unimaginable for most of us.

Look, I’m not blind to our country’s challenges. A black man named Cade, a splendid carpenter, lived with us for several years in rural Oklahoma during the 1950s. I remember the looks, even the comments, uttered by others as my once-OU sorority girl mother and her four tow headed youngsters, all below the age of six, shopped at Les Chandler’s Grocery Store in Wayne, OK. If looks could kill …

And now this pompous, bellicose, pot-bellied past president, a man who was given $300 million by a doting, yet destructive dad when he was just a toddler of three, thinks he knows America and her melting pot of 320 million fine and friendly folks.

Nay, nay I say. He knows nothing about the vast majority of us, and how could he?

He’s never been one of us and never will be.

P.S. Almost forgot. Wonder where a guy named DeSantis came from? Doesn’t sound like American to me.
