Making It Make Sense

on

Both of my parents were ordained ministers. I was the kid who asked too many questions.

Though shalt not kill, but God goes with the soldiers into war?

We’re born in sin, but be fruitful and multiply?

Of course, procreation wasn’t the original sin. That was seeking knowledge. That’s probably why Mama could never adequately explain to me Paul’s directions that women should be silent in the church.

She tried to tell me that is was because the women, sitting on the opposite side of the synagogue, would get up and ask their husbands to explain what the Rabbi was saying.

But didn’t they hear the same scripture on the Sabbath? Why didn’t they understand? Her explanation just didn’t make sense.

Too much of what passes for politics and political rhetoric lately doesn’t make sense either.

Our State Superintendent of Public Education is trying to destroy public education.

Our supposedly Cherokee governor is using every trick he can to overturn the sovereignty of the native tribes.

Christians denigrate a truly devout Christian president and embrace his opponent, a man who is cruel, unholy, and unabashedly not Christlike.

And no, the election wasn’t stolen. If Democrats were going to steal the presidency, wouldn’t they have insured majorities in the House and Senate, as well?

Watching the recent trial of Hunter Biden, I understand it is pure politics when the party that won’t tighten gun restrictions after a school shooting will charge a man who didn’t use his gun in a crime for buying said gun. The same folks have spent the last four years going after young Biden for capitalizing on his name, while ignoring that Trump installed his family in White House offices so they could make hay off his position.

Here is where the critical thinking skills are important. Recognize projection when you see it. Whatever distasteful thing the former president has done, the GOP accuses Biden of doing.

Now, U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson, former White House physician, known as the Candy Man for the way he dispensed drugs, is demanding that President Biden take a drug test before this week’s debate. He thinks Biden is using “performance enhancing drugs.”

Maybe they just can’t believe a man Biden’s age can still put together a complete sentence, stay on topic, and remember the Congressman’s name.

This fight is heating up, and only one of the candidates has the best interest of American citizens at heart. Stay vigilant, my friends. There has never been a more critical need for thinking skills and the ability to sniff out malarky. If something doesn’t make sense to you, trust your instincts. President Biden and our democracy are counting on you.
