Why was the debt ceiling not an issue when President Trump was in office? Why was the deficit not an issue when you passed tax cuts that mostly benefitted investors and people with high incomes? Why now? If this standoff is about the deficit, you wouldn’t have passed what President Trump touted as the largest tax cut in history. You wouldn’t want to gut the IRS to keep them from auditing wealthy tax cheats. This is not about the middle class, despite your anti-IRS talking points.
