Fighting depression is becoming a daily chore for me. The nation I love and fought for is coming apart at the seams because one man is fronting a systematic dismantling of our laws, our Constitution, our dignity and our humanitarianism to say nothing of our community spirit.
There is a deeply disturbed former FBI agent who keeps sending me stuff that reflects the thrust of this dismantling. It is race-based, of course, but it also flouts the idiocy of the Tea Party operating philosophy. He belongs to an “organization” named Conservative Constitutionalists.
Now, I know you’re having a “who the hell are these guys moment,” but let me explain.
These amateurs have re-written the case law decisions by the Supreme Court and used their cockeyed “opinions” as the new political gospel. If you want a sample, tune in Fox News for a week straight and you’ll hear the gibberish that these people produce.
This FBI agent says he has a bunch of friends who are also active or retired law enforcement people. They all seem to be singing from the same hymnal as Fox News, because that’s where they get all their news.
Now, one would think that a trained, experienced law enforcement officer would be inherently objective about crimes and criminals. With these guys, their political and racist ideologies have overruled their rationality, ethics and logic. I will not bore the reader with all the rubbish these pitiful people dredge up from extremist right-wing blogs and hate screeds like The Crusader,but suffice to say they conveniently gloss over or overlook completely the crimes and criminals that the real news shoves in our faces daily.
Where are these guys when it comes to Trump’s criminals who worked on his campaign? Crickets. Where are their ravings when it comes to hush-money payments to porn stars? Nada. What do they say about an administration and a cabal of campaign flunkies in jail who ignored the intelligence community consensus about Russian interference? Not a peep.
The evidence for the Trump Administration’s obstruction of justice overflows out of the Mueller Report like fetid molasses from a broken jar. And yet … and yet, the response is, as any criminal enterprise would do, to attack the investigators. The Trump cabinet and administration has set new league records for firings, resignations, criminal indictments, corruption scandals and outright fraud from the “best people” that the lunatic-in-chief has selected.
Well, now he has what he’s always wanted, an attorney general who will squelch all federal investigations into this criminal network of theft, misdeeds, rape, human trafficking, sedition and outright perjury by this president and his pals, appointees and hangers on.
The response from my “pal” from the FBI? It’s all Obama’s fault.
I’m not kidding.
Oh, right. Well now that the racist demon is out of the bag, instead of simply admitting it, now these right-wing extremists are calling everyone socialists or communists. Hey, if you don’t believe like them, then you must be an enemy of the country, the people and capitalism.
The irony here is that this demented and delusional FBI agent gets his living from government retirement benefits and military disability benefits. He pulls down over $75,000 a year tax-free and blames socialism for the crimes committed by us “lefties.”
I’m not making this up. This is a real guy. He has sent me stuff from the most radical right-wing bullshit machines I could ever imagine and takes it all as the way things are and that I am delusional and on the wrong side and I’m a traitor and I’m all those other things that these guys make up to deflect the reality that they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
Confront them with factual evidence and they will promptly tell you that it is fake news and that we are delusional. Gee, I wonder where they heard that.
The worst-case scenario is that these old farts are training the younger guys to oil up their AR-15s and get ready for the next civil war. This FBI agent claims he has trained snipers, so one just never knows when it’ll be our turn, especially those of us who shoot off their mouths in opposition to their lies and attempt to advocate for the truth.
Now, imagine the scenario where a Democratic president was doing all these things, creating the scandal du jour and lying outright to the people with every Nazi-like rally he leads. My guess is that the silent Republicans in Congress would be screaming themselves hoarse, writing all sorts of rebukes and holding all sorts of committee hearings to pillory that president. The mindless fools who now scream idiotic things at Trump rallies would be in the streets calling themselves things like “Proud Boys.”
Oh, wait. That already happens at Trump rallies. What are they proud of? It certainly couldn’t be their extraordinary intellects, could it? The hypocrisy of the Republican Party is mind-numbing, except for the realization of who owns them. Corporate/banking America is all OK with these morally vacant employees. As long as the deregulations and tax cuts keep coming, they don’t seem to mind that we are on the verge of another civil war or the destruction of our Constitution. I guess the quarterly reports show that that war would be good for business. Didn’t Karl Marx predict this in 1850?
These are dark times indeed, made darker by the 92 million voters who didn’t show up in 2016 to save our country from this demonic scourge and morally blasphemous blight on our country that the Republican Party as abetted and promoted. See: Graham, Lindsey and McConnell, Mitch for completely ignoring their oaths of office, defiling the Constitution and sucking up to the most evil, cowardly and dishonest president in our history.
Donald Trump is making the Dark Ages look like a Sunday picnic. These are dark days indeed.
