The Family Values Candidate

on

BY BOB BEARDEN

Bob BeardenObviously The Donald is sorely feeling the heat angst of rejection. I can relate to that. I have had that feeling from time to time in my life. But not to digress to my troubles, as I said The Donald is really feeling rejected from all that has happened with the revelations and accusations by a growing number of women.

I remember a line from comedian George Gobel on the old Tonight Show with Johnny Carson: “Did you ever feel like the whole world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?”

I can just imagine from my own experiences in the past that, that is pretty much exactly how The Donald is feeling at this point with the election only 23 days away.

Not that I feel any kinship nor commiseration, but it’s just that I know the feelings that must be going through his narrow little brain cells. His angst is, of course, very evident in his expressions, his sighs, sniffles and especially in his words. Which are mostly “ain’t guilty – no sexual predatory lending practices.” Well, that rings hollow from all the video and recordings now surfacing all over the place. He is and has pretty much always been a sexual predator.

Hey, why wouldn’t that be believable? He has, after all, been a predator in business. A fact he has continually bragged about over the years. And he has continually bragged about his prowess with women and how he can do anything he wants to them simply because he is a star.

And now he is asking us to believe that ain’t who he is and who he has always been? Get real. Even his most rabid supporters believe that to be true. That’s why they support him.

Witness the one woman who had a special tee shirt made up and wore it to one of his rallies, saying something to the effect it was OK to grab her [insert the P word for cat here] with an arrow pointing to that exact location on her anatomy.

His supporters can’t seem to understand why that is a problem for the rest of us. They have been quoted time after time that they don’t care if he did all of those things – they are going to vote for him anyway.

Who are these people? And what sewer have they crawled out from? What crude vulgar universe do they inhabit that they would remotely consider that someone who brags about being able to sexually assault women would be acceptable as our next president?

And why do they not care that what they are saying should be normally accepted within the bounds of what we have been told time after time is a moral Christian society?

And to that point, the so-called Christian Right evangelicals are saying they don’t care, either, whether or not he did those things – they are going to support him as their … can I have huge gasp here? … as their family values candidate!

What does that say for their ideas about Christian values and their ideas about who Jesus was and what he stood for and what he taught? That in the realm of Christian values and beliefs that it is OK to support a sociopathic, misogynistic, serial sexual predator who lies with impunity on an almost sentence by sentence utterance? Really?

I would simply answer them with their favorite mantra WWJD – What Would Jesus Do? I don’t think he would in any sense of Christian values be telling them or anyone else to vote for The Donald!
