Bait And Switch: Claudia Swisher On State’s Broken NBCT Promises

on

This spring, a decade after the Legislature reneged on promised stipends for National Board Certified Teachers, it appeared lawmakers finally were poised to do right by Oklahoma’s elite educators. The House approved legislation that not only would have restored the stipends, but also would have made them retroactive to 2013. When it reached the Senate, however, the not-so-funny business began. Fourth generation teacher Claudia Swisher, herself nationally board certified, joins us for this week’s Observercast – Bait And Switch – to discuss how legislators shucked the NBCT proposal, yet again stiffing the state’s best and brightest teachers.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
