Finally, Dems Find Their Voice?

on

BY RICHARD L. FRICKER

It seems the Democrats may have found a voice in calling for Sen. Tom Coburn to release his hold on S.1963, the veterans caregiver bill. It would be nice if they would keep up the pressure on Coburn and others.

Too often in the last few years Democrats have caved fearing an evangelical or right-wing backlash.

In reality, all they need to do is stand up to these people.

There are too many Dems in the state Legislature and political high-steppers in Congress like Dan Boren willing to throw the needs of the people under the bus in exchange for their own political mileage.

Wonder if anyone has a picture of Boren under a Muskogee street lamp wearing high heels, hot pants leaning in a car window talking to Tom Coburn?

In short, the Dems need to establish a platform, a real platform not just mom, flag and apple pie.

Tell the people what they plan to do for them to cure Oklahoma’s ills.

Lobby moderate republicans who are weary of the legislative Taliban.

They should start now. The next legislative session is not that far off in political terms. There is always a chance some of their legislation would pass if they are just bold enough.

But then, I’m still thinking Santa will bring me a pony for Christmas.
