Marlin Lavanhar is a minister, political cartoonist and activist. Since 2000, he has been the Senior Minister of All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa. He holds degrees from Tulane University and Harvard Divinity School and honorary doctorates from Philips Theological School and Meadville Lombard Seminary. He is a member of the Board of the Greenwood Cultural Center, the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities and President Elect of the Knippa Interfaith Lecture Series and a past president of Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry. In 2025, Marlin was made the official cartoonist for the Oklahoma Observer and is a member of the American Editorial Cartoonist Association.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
