If the last six months proved anything, it’s that “all politics is local” is no cliche in Oklahoma. Think how city governments acted boldly to curb the pandemic – imposing mask mandates – while the governor fiddled. Or how the rightwing majority on the Oklahoma County Commission bungled the spending of $42 million in federal emergency CARES Act relief.

In today’s Observercast, the second in our series of pre-election conversations with Democratic challengers, 2nd District Oklahoma County Commission candidate Spencer Hicks dissects the recent shenanigans by county leaders and offers a dramatically different blueprint for county government’s future.
