Observercast Episode 25: Primary Postmortem

on

Political junkies rejoice! We invited longtime former House Democratic Leader Scott Inman to join us for Observercast Episode 25 – a June 30th election postmortem – to break down last week’s primary results and discuss what they portend for Oklahoma’s future.

Was the vote to expand Medicaid really a case of rural Oklahomans voting against their self-interest? What did 5th District U.S. Rep. Kendra Horn’s resounding victory say about her chances for re-election as the only Democratic member of the state’s DC delegation? Why were four incumbents – three Republicans and one Democrat – knocked out in their parties’ primaries? Is Oklahoma showing signs of purpling up? Or is the hard-right re-exerting its influence in the state?

We also take a peek at the November general election, including State Question 814, the Legislature’s latest attempt to get its mitts on Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust dollars. It’s the best commentary and analysis on last week’s election you’ll find. Tune in and enjoy!

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
