Oklahoma’s COVID-19 Death Rate Leads The Nation

on

One would think our lawmakers, who return to the Capitol on Monday to start the 2022 session, might find that headline jarring, traumatic, unacceptable, frightening or maybe even completely crazy.

Hardly. Over 50 different proposals have been filed by these nimrods to make it much harder to protect citizens from the virus.

You read that right … harder to protect citizens.

Several of the worst of the “ideas” filed and pending committee action would actually outlaw any vaccines from being administered. These morons must have never heard of Dr. Jonas Salk.

Besides the nation leading death rate, we are also near the bottom in fully vaccinated citizens, especially in rural Oklahoma and among the 21-50 age group. Older folks residing in nursing homes are now over 80% well protected but we still have hundreds of thousands of adults who should know better just wandering around, going to work, play, restaurants, movies and even church, professing they’ll be fine if COVID-19 comes their way.

No, many will be pretty darn sick and a few will shortly be taking up burial space, joining over 13,000 Okies already so situated.

Nationally, America just passed 900,000 dead from COVID-19, easily surpassing the number of all war dead in the history of this country.

And here is another cold, stark fact of life and death: If you currently remain unvaccinated you are 97 times more likely to contract the disease than a person fully inoculated against it.

Did you read that? Ninety-seven more times.

I could go on but won’t.

These lawmakers are idiots and instigators of the most ignorant behavior I have ever seen in the Legislature – and I’ve seen plenty over the last 44 years and contributed probably more than my share to it.

However, since I’m leveling such life and death charges, you should know all 50 of the authors of these barbaric, baseless, boneheaded and dumbbell bills are Republicans, every single one of them.

Voters, if that makes you proud, you’re even more clueless than the clowns you send to the newly-remodeled, billion-dollar edifice to ignorance we call the People’s Building.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
