Public Ed For The Public Good

on

The last week of February marked the annual Public Schools Week, an opportunity for those who believe in a free public education for all to rally at the state Capitol in support of this pillar of our democratic republic. This year’s emphasis took on special meaning given that Gov. Kevin Stitt, Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat and anti-public ed forces are ramping up efforts to expand vouchers – a financial backbreaker for already underfunded K-12 schools. For this week’s Observercast – Public Ed For The Public Good – the Rev. Dr. Lori Walke, a product of Oklahoma’s public schools and a member of the board of the pro-public ed group Pastors for Oklahoma Kids, joins us to help analyze this session’s all-out assault on Oklahoma’s public schools and to discuss the future of Oklahoma public education.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
