Reaping The Harvest

on

BY BOB BEARDEN

Bob BeardenAnd suddenly they don’t like The Donald.

Not just America, in general, but the Grand Old Party of Lincoln, in particular. He has been called out by the likes of Scott Walker, no piker himself to the nasty innuendo, and even Newty the Gingrich has gotten in the name-calling race and he, too, is no piker when it comes to name calling. But save for Mark Kirk and good ol’ cranky Lindsey Graham, the others are all still kissing Trump’s pinky ring and his ass.

The Donald? What’s he doing? Non-apologetic as ever he now says his remarks against Judge Gonzalo Curiel were simply misconstrued. Really? How’s that work? Even dense heads like Mitch McConnell, no stranger to nasty remarks, know what he said was racist. Mitch, of course, can’t bring himself to say it, but it is clear as the chaw of tobacco in his cheek that what The Donald said was bigoted and racist.

But The Donald is so used to getting a free pass from his fellow Republicans on whatever he says he just can’t let it lie. He gave a speech and didn’t mention the judge, but neither did he say he was sorry or that he wouldn’t do it again. And, of course, he will.

When someone thumps the Trump ego – an ego that is as thin-skinned as ice on a farm pond in Florida – then he will react with his racist and bigoted rant. That’s who he is and why didn’t the GOP establishment know that? Oh, yes, they did and they didn’t take him seriously. Now they must and, boy howdy, is it screwing up their summer plans.

It was almost comical watching Paul Ryan pussyfoot around, taking the Donald to task and then saying racist or not he will support The Donald over Hillary. Hillary on her worst day doesn’t have a racist and bigoted bone in her body. And presidential? On her worst day Hillary has more presidential creds than The Donald could ever muster on his best day, saying, of course, that he might ever have a best day.

You reap what you sow and the GOP has been sowing the seeds of hate, racism and bigotry for many years now and they are starting to reap the harvest from those foul seeds. The Donald is just doing what he knows the vile base of the GOP wants to hear. They are panting and lapping up Donald’s bigoted, racist ways much like a hog sucking slop from his trough.

It’s what they have been longing for. The Donald is saying what they have been wanting to say for decades. And the Grand Old Party of Lincoln has slowly force-fed them tidbits of bigotry, racism and hatred ever since LBJ double crossed them and pushed through [with help from the Northern Wing of the GOP] the Civil Rights Act, The Voting Rights Act and Medicare.

They have chomped at the bit to take back our nation from all the liberal, socialistic ideas of inclusiveness spread about by the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Lyndon Baines Johnson and the Kennedys. Now they think they have their champion in The Donald.

They hate everything that Bernie Sanders stands for. They hate it that somehow we citizens of the United States of America went to the polls and twice elected a black man as our president. And they hate it even worse that he is a fine upstanding example of a true Family Values President and politician.

They hate it even more that we are on the precipice of electing the first woman president because, for them, that is the one thing they have always thought would never be possible. The one thing they have stood foursquare against, being led openly by a woman! Jesus H. Christ, has it come to that? Say it ain’t so, Donald! Say it ain’t so!

But it is so, and they are sore afraid that the last vestige of their white privileged manhood is now being threatened with extinction. The white man has ruled this nation for several hundred years, running roughshod over all in his way, and now that supremacy is in danger of falling. Well, this old Indian says too damn bad!

So let it be written! So let it be done!
