Observercast

‘Tax Breaks For Me But Not For Thee’

on

An hour after Del City Democratic Rep. Andy Fugate debated against SB 1080 that would extend tax credits to private school scholarships and foundations, Gov. Kevin Stitt vetoed Fugate’s HB 1849 that would have given tax exemptions to public school-affiliated organizations like the local PTA. So, apparently, the rich can get their tax credits, but our local public schools can’t make their dollars stretch that much further with sales tax exempt status. In this week’s Observercast, we talked with Rep. Fugate about the apparent double-standard here, the repeated undermining of public schools, and the daft timing of a governor’s veto of one of the few Democratic bills to pass with overhwhelming bipartisan support.
