With all the pomp and circumstance they could muster, Gov. Kevin Stitt, House Speaker Kyle Hilbert and other statehouse luminaries gathered recently with students at an OKC charter school celebrate Stitt’s signing of SB 1778 – the state’s greatest education reform package since … what? … the invention of the alphabet?
OK … so it wasn’t that over-the-top … but it was close. To hear Stitt, Hilbert and Co. tell it, they’ve reinvented the education wheel – out Mississippi-ing Mississippi’s Miracle that ostensibly lifted their Old South elementary students’ reading scores out of the nation’s basement and on their way to a lifetime of prosperity.
