Observercast

The Gerrymandering Hook Echo

on

Believe it or not, the Oklahoma House speaker thinks Hispanics in south OKC and the Panhandle – four hours and a world away – reflect a “community of interest” because they speak Spanish. That’s one way statehouse Republicans are defending their egregious congressional redistricting plan that butchers Oklahoma County in order to serve Rep. Stephanie Bice’s re-election campaign – not the people’s interest. For this week’s Observercast – The Gerrymandering Hook Echo – south OKC Rep. Jose Cruz calls out the map-crafting shenanigans and details what it could mean for public policy in the decade ahead.
