Here’s a fun fact: one million seconds comes out to about 11 days. It’s kind of a while, but the time will pass before you know it. A billion seconds, on the other hand, is almost 32 years. Hopefully that puts into perspective the kind of money that is Trump’s “anti-weaponization” fund.
The series of events leading up to this was already weird. In 2019, Trump’s IRS failed to safeguard some of his tax filings [which, from my understanding, most presidents release anyway], and Trump sought $10 billion in damage. He sued on Jan. 29, 2026, and a judge took notice of something weird: Trump was suing himself. He was suing an IRS he was and is the head of.
Now, our gracious president has decided to end this kerfuffle, and instead of gathering $10 billion, he will create a $1.776 billion fund [you must love the patriotic symbolism] for “anti-weaponization.” But what exactly does that mean?
Well, you would be hard-pressed to find a good answer. The official document from the Department of Justice is scant, just over a page long, and doesn’t hold any very reliable information. Nothing in this administration does.
What we do know is that these funds will be overseen by a five-person committee appointed by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and will act at the behest of President Trump. He will, of course, have the power to remove any of the committee as he sees fit.
What qualifies you to receive money is also not clearly defined. What we currently know is that this money will be directed towards those who dealt with the “weaponization” of the legal system against them during the Biden Administration. However, this is also not well defined. Any anonymous amount could be sent to any anonymous person, with a five-person committee deciding who gets what.
It could be Trump’s family or allies, but I believe it to be something worse.
The Jan. 6 rioters got away with everything. March into the Capitol, wreak havoc and scream for the death of a vice-president they had supported not long before, attack and kill officers of the law, and walk away free at the end of the day.
Now, not only have they been pardoned, they also could be getting paid.
I don’t like to doom-say, but I feel like this is close to a private paramilitary working directly under Trump. Pardon, pay, and pave the way for their crimes.
This fund could quite literally create a presidential guard that is untouchable by the law and affords all the money they want. And the worst part is this is coming out of your taxpayer dollars. Trump isn’t paying for this himself. No. He sues himself, decides to drop it and award himself nearly $2 billion and then pays his cronies.
Watergate is happening every day, and this may be the worst yet. At least Reagan and Nixon tried to hide the atrocities they’d commit. Trump is doing it out in the open.
For now, go read the document. It’ll take you 30 seconds. That’s how short it is. These modern-day robber barons don’t just control the economy, but they control the government, and now they may control a private army that We The People pay for. They’re robbing us blind.
