Who’s In Charge?

on

While all eyes and ears are focused on the wannabe king, what we should be paying attention to are the king’s handlers. The president is just a con man intent on money and power, a tool. As his poll numbers drop, there are people in the background, ready to step in when the people have had enough. They are the ones who are setting his policies.

Has anyone noticed how Vice President Vance stays in the background. He knows not to upstage the president, but we should be paying him a lot more attention.

As working people struggle to pay for healthcare and put food on the table, and as the president lies about how robust the economy is, how far inflation has fallen, and how everything wrong with the economy is Biden’s fault, Vice President Vance, along with the head of the Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and the good looking lawyers installed in the Justice Department are trying to turn our country into a model of The Third Reich.

Meanwhile, the president’s family rakes in millions from those who want to curry favor with the president who is also cashing in on the ruin.

The man who insults journalists and goes off on rants is their cover. And when he’s gone, I fear they will still be there to continue the job they’ve started. It doesn’t help that the McConnell-stacked Supreme Court is aiding and abetting this unholy gang.

Then there’s the Secretary of Defense who has no problem ordering bomb strikes on boats that may or may not be carrying drugs. Has he decommissioned the Coast Guard, you know, the guys who used to bring drug smugglers in to be charged in court? In the latest outrage, we see that both he and the president are willing to let those who obey their orders take the blame for their crimes.

What scares me most are how many people don’t notice what’s happening. Sure, they are disappointed in the man they voted for, but do they understand the way out of this mess is in their hands?

Voters must take charge if we want democracy to succeed. If you are bored by politics, you are misunderstanding your role in how democracy works. We all have to pay attention not just to the candidates but to the people around them, and right now, the people around the president are a clear and present danger to this country.

If only we can hold out until the midterms. We all have to wake up to the fact that this administration has no fealty to the Constitution it swore to protect, and that we will be the ones who suffer from this administration’s undemocratic policies.
