Don’t Speak Ill Of The Dead

on

OK, I won’t but I will speak of Rush Limbaugh when he was alive. He died this morning.

What a terrible man, shallow thinker, phony as a $3 bill for the things he said he idolized: Flag, patriotism, family, religion, the military, national defense, America First, and a Former Somebody named Donald J. Trump.

He was a race baiter even when it began to go out of style but because he could manipulate his many millions of listeners so easily, Rush could convene his corrosive commentary in a way that gave cover to those who were not so clever in their conversations.

In certain circles I am familiar with, if somebody started their words with “Rush said this morning that … ” no additional evidence was needed to sell the idea – hook, line and sinker.

Like so many sunshine patriots Rush never met a defense contractor or military hardware system he didn’t like. Blackwater hired guns were good even if they were convicted of wantonly killing innocent women and children. Think Iraq … for years. Buy helicopters and planes that crash more than they fly? Well, that just goes with the territory.

Of course, like his mentor, or vice-versa, Limbaugh had a ready-made deferment from the draft thanks to a bump on his butt, medically described as a pilonidal cyst, which is an infection near the tailbone that is easily treated by a doctor. Usually it can be removed through minor surgery.

Of course, Trump’s problem was lower down, on his feet and the affliction was bone spurs, plus four other deferrals due to college, but who is counting.

And, of course, both Trump and Rush were terrific family men … a total of seven wives between them.

He who lives in a glass house, etc, etc.

I am sure my post will generate some minor reaction from those who thought he was Sierra Hotel [that’s Air Force lingo for S%$T HOT].

Personally I thought he was just FOR S%$T.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
