Heitkamp Headlines Frosty Fest ’14

on

Heitkamp4U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-North Dakota, will be featured speaker Aug. 21 at Frosty Fest ’14, celebrating the muckraking career of the Observer’s founding editor, Frosty Troy, and benefiting the Oklahoma Observer Democracy Foundation. Heitkamp was elected North Dakota’s junior senator in 2012, helping keep the seat in Democratic hands – she replaced longtime Sen. Kent Conrad. She is a former North Dakota attorney general, perhaps best known for her role in helping forge the national tobacco settlement. She also formerly served as director of Dakota Gasification Co.’s Great Plains Synfuels Plant. The second annual Frosty Fest begins at 7 p.m. at Tulsa’s historic Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis Ave., with light hors d’oeuvres, desserts, coffee and “softer” drinks, catered by the Coffee House on Cherry Street, and a selection of Oklahoma wines. Tickets are $75 each (tax-deductible) and may be purchased HERE or by calling 405.478.8700. The Oklahoma Observer Democracy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to help create a better, more informed Oklahoma. All donations are tax deductible within the limits of the law.

The Observer carries on the "give 'em hell" tradition of its founder, the late Frosty Troy. I read it from cover to cover. A progressive wouldn't be able to live in a red state without it.
